NSW and Australia already have some of the world’s strongest ESG performance through our robust legislation, planning and approvals process and regulatory framework. These demonstrate the state’s reputation as a stable, trusted and ethical trading partner for investment opportunities.

As we develop our critical minerals industry, NSW will continue to apply the highest ESG standards and practices to support a new supply of sustainably produced minerals into global supply chains.

A review of the NSW ESG credentials shows the state’s regulatory processes align with international leading-practice frameworks. Compliance with applicable performance expectations at a state and/or national level included 97% compliance with applicable International Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM) and 100% compliance with the Initiative of Responsible Mining Assurance (IRMA) performance expectations.
