Auditing of exploration and mining operations

The Mining Act Inspectorate undertakes compliance audits of mining operations and exploration activities to assess whether title holders are meeting their compliance requirements under the Mining Act 1992.

Where non-compliances are identified, enforcement action may be taken in accordance with the Regulator's compliance and enforcement approach. Audit reports may also identify opportunities for improvement to strengthen the compliance management activities of the title holder.

All our audit reports recently published on the website include:

  • Castle Mountain Zeolites open cut mine near Quirindi,
  • Wallerawang Quarry near Lithgow,
  • Exploration Licence 5574 held by Prospectore Pty Ltd - Bushranger exploration project near Oberon.
